Sobek 1, Me 0

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

You know how crocodiles are patient little fuckers and wait for the right moment to strike before they attack their prey?

Well, let me tell you a story. Sobek, dear beloved Father, has been trying in vain to get me into heavy metal for years. It’s never been my thing, or so I thought, so I figured He’d stopped pestering me about it because He had accepted He’d never win me over.

Apparently not. -_-

Now, this story requires some past history, so bear with me. I have this weird instinct where I just *know* if I’ll like a certain band or artist, usually just from hearing a few songs. This instinct has rarely been wrong, so I tend to listen to it when it calls.

Five Things Wot I Has Learned This Week

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Concept shamelessly stolen from angry!Gregor of Chaser fame due to a distinct lack of other more interesting ideas with which to blog about. That, and I have a migraine, so this is as creative as I’m getting.

1) It is impossible to listen to The Idle Race and be unhappy as a result.
I didn’t think it would be possible to like a band after only hearing one song, but, well, I’m shallow. And ‘Days Of The Broken Arrows’ is EPIC. Srsly.

It’s partly the music. It’s just so… freakishly awesome. And happy! Yay for psychedelic rock. XD But yes. Also, /random fangirl moment/ Jeff Lynne’s voice is sosososo prettiful! /sanity restored. …I might be slightly in love with his falsetto at the moment. >.>

Though I still adore them post-Jeff as well. Very prettiful music, considering it’s ~40 years old. <3 *watches music collection age a decade* XD ‘By The Sun’ is epic and prettyful and I luffs it so. <3

Chaser Madness

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

It just won’t die, will it? Jesus Christ, you’d think the media had better things to do than keep talking about them. But no, it was even brought up on Lateline again, both during the Friday Night Fight Club between Combet and Pyne (which was EPIC and lulzy and totally worth watching. XD) and in the intro to a story about Letterman pissing off Sarah Palin by apparently making jokes about one of her daughters. What, is it ‘let’s all get offended by comedy!’ month and I missed the memo? o.O

I was completely shocked by the furore that erupted over their ‘Make A Realistic Wish Foundation’ sketch, especially considering all the other potentially offensive material in that particular episode.

Okay, I’m the first to admit I did laugh at that particular sketch. It was wrong on so many levels, but damn did I laugh. Still, I do think it could’ve been executed better. This doesn’t make it an offensive sketch, it makes it one that was just done badly. There’s a difference. (more…)

On Why Bebo Chaser Fans Are The Devil’s Illegitimate Hellspawn

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

Author’s Note@26/6/09: Is it just me, or do I sound unnecessarily pretentious here? XD

I hate most Chaser fangirls on principle, I hate them on sight if they use even the smallest amounts of netspeak, but the ones on Bebo take the cake for being the worst kinds of Chaser fangirls in existence.

Heh, and you thought myspace was bad? You haven’t descended into the pit of Hell that is Bebo.com. *shudders*

There is netspeak so prolific and so incoherent, it may as well have been written by monkeys bashing at typewriters. Hell, even Yoda is more coherent than these morons. (more…)

On The Chaser and How Their Fans Shit Me

Monday, October 1st, 2007

Author’s Note@26/6/09: Oh, there was no way I wasn’t posting this again. It’s completely and utterly epic and needs to exist. So there. :D

Chaser fans are curious, wonderful, infuriating creatures. I both love them and hate them.

The success of The War has brought a whole new contingent of fans to the fore, some of whom deserve to be shot more than anything. Some also deserve my undying love, but that’s another story.

My observations of said Chaser fans spans from livejournal to myspace to facebook to the Chaser site and other smaller assorted places. They tend to fall into distinct categories, despite their protestations otherwise. Any references to ‘the forum’ relate solely to the Chaser forum found at their website.
